Can You Believe the Bible?

Lectures 22-35

Lecture 22, The Bible & Philosophy, Part 1

An introduction to the views and teachings of several philosophers highly regarded by that discipline: Plato, Aristotle, and current day Peter Singer. The conclusion is that there is a lack of agreement between philosophers because their belief is that there are no absolutes, with the exception of one tenet with which most philosophers agree--there is no God. Their ideas are examined in light of Biblical teaching.

Lecture 23, The Bible & Philosophy, Part 2

A continuation of the discussion of philosophy looking at three ideas important to philosophers: the nature of reality, the nature and origins of knowledge, and the foundations of ethics and morality. What philosophers espouse and what the Bible says are compared. The question of whether mankind is innately good or evil is addressed using Biblical truths, along with whether or not many noted philosophers lived their lives in a way that contradicted their philosophical views.
